Project Summary:
This luxurious gable-style horse barn began as a Columbia 72′ Barn Kit from DC Structures. This post and beam structure includes two open shed roofs, creating a 60′ x 72′ building footprint. The main level consists of eight horse stalls with Classic Equine stall fronts and Dutch doors leading to covered turnouts, a wash stall, a full bathroom with laundry, and a large tack room with stairs leading to a storage loft.
A litany of exterior upgrades make a lasting impression, including two large Nantucket dormers with windows that add headroom and natural light to the loft. Two large handcrafted timber trusses that adorn the gable ends and cedar board and batten siding also contribute to the natural charm of this structure. A custom cupola with working windows tops off the barn, with its functional design improving ventilation and natural lighting inside the barn.

Custom Features:
This gable-style horse barn features a myriad of custom details in and outside the stables. For example, we designed the interior with an octagonal hayloft that sits above the center aisle. Our heavy timber roof system also shines in this one-of-a-kind space, with large wood beams and tongue and groove ceilings adding to the luxurious nature of this post and beam structure. Classic Equine breezeway doors with quad glass tops, functional hayloft doors, and custom heavy timber trusses sit on either gable end. Our team also added Nantucket dormers and an additional 72’ x 12’ open shed roof to the design for increased storage space.
