Project Summary:
This stately post and beam residence in Sugar Grove, North Carolina, offers a dynamic glimpse into our robust custom design capabilities! Adapted from our Shasta 84′ RV Barn Kit, this beautiful family home features dozens of eccentricities that make it wholly unique, including vault-style exercise and theater rooms, stained glass windows, and a circular centerpiece bar area.
The primary living space sits on the second floor, where our clients can relax inside a wide-open lounge area with arched heavy timber ceilings, a piano area, a bar, and a game den. Two enclosed rooms with custom wooden vault doors lead to a private gym space on one end of the living room and a cozy theater area on the other. Through doors in the gym area and lounge, our clients can access a generous primary bedroom suite with multiple walk-in closets, a jacuzzi hot tub, and a large shower with dual rain shower heads in the four-piece bathroom. On the opposite end of the second story, another bedroom with a full bathroom and laundry area provides a pleasant and efficient setting for visiting family or friends.
Stairs in the entryway lead down to the lower-level RV garage and secondary living space. A storage area and dog condo live on one end of the garage, while a one-bedroom apartment and entertainment area offer a home away from home on the other. A massive modern kitchen with a 10-seater island and a dining area provide ample room for our clients’ kids and grandchildren whenever they visit. Meanwhile, a spacious bedroom with a full bathroom and storage loft offers a cozy reprieve that anyone from their kids to their friends or guests can enjoy.

Custom Features:
This Shasta 84′ post and beam home boasts countless customizations from top to bottom. While many of the primary details of this home are decor- or material-related, some of the most noteworthy customizations come from the genius of our design team. Unlike our standard RV barn design, this building features a handful of structural add-ons, including a massive 1,176 sq. ft. covered deck in the front and a 468 sq. ft. deck in the rear, two shed roof additions, an exterior staircase, and three extra-large windowed cupolas. Additionally, our clients opted for a 4,800 sq. ft. heavy timber roof upgrade with a similar gray wash to our Central California Barn Home project. However, one of the home’s most unique aspects is its incredibly diverse layout. With its combination of loft spaces, enclosed rooms, and vaulted heavy timber ceilings, this home offers tons of utility and efficiency within a visually intriguing setting.
