Project Summary:
Our barn-style homes look stunning in any setting—but when the property is as scenic as this one in Copperopolis, California, the results are truly exceptional. Based on our Oakridge 36′ Apartment Barn Kit, this custom garage home was brought to life through a seamless collaboration between DC Structures and our parent company, DC Builders. Together, we delivered a tailor-made design-build solution that reflects our client’s lifestyle and perfectly complements their lakeside location.
Spanning 4,741 square feet, this post and beam structure features a 3,132 sq. ft. main level with two distinct zones: an expansive garage with three bays, and a finished entry that includes a lounge with a custom bar, plus a laundry room and restroom. Upstairs, a spacious two-bedroom, two-bathroom home offers sweeping property views and a cozy, open-concept living space filled with natural light and warmth.

Custom Features:
This garage home in Copperopolis, California, is a far cry from the original Oakridge model that inspired it. With several major structural upgrades—including a 432 sq. ft. enclosed shed roof addition and an extra garage bay—we were able to transform the standard kit into a fully custom home tailored to our client’s lifestyle and stunning lakeside property. One of the most distinctive elements of this project is that it started as one of the first interior design projects for DC Builders. From custom fixtures and finishes to bespoke space planning and furniture design, their interior design team played a pivotal role in bringing every inch of the space to life—and we think the results speak for themselves.
