Project Summary:
Modeled after our Columbia 48′ Gable Barn Kit, this private event venue and barn in Sugar Grove, North Carolina, offers an exceptionally unique and magical setting for celebrations, concerts, and overnight stays. We designed this charming venue with numerous custom details like an open web floor system, a heavy timber roof upgrade, and a pair of massive 36′ scissor trusses in the entryway. Our clients also opted for a few materials outside our standard options and upgrades, including interior barn doors from Rustica, which we helped them source and customize for their structure.
The main level features a highly personalized gathering space with a fully optimized bar, a piano stage, ADA restrooms, and multiple storage closets. Design accents like a brick sidewall, LED light installations, and polished concrete floors create an inviting and lively atmosphere, making this space perfect for small parties, special occasions, and relaxing stays. Upstairs, two bunk rooms with private chaperone rooms offer a fun and budget-friendly living area for parents with kids, groups of friends, or even our clients’ eleven grandchildren! Cedar decks on the left and right gable ends provide stunning views of the Appalachian forest. Custom Features:
This custom Columbia is easily one of the most original structures in our portfolio. Despite starting as a standard kit, this building has since evolved into a completely distinctive space outfitted with dozens of striking features, including a brick accent wall, two-story high ceilings with heavy timber rafters, and LED backlit countertops. Our design team made several modifications to our base Columbia package to achieve our clients’ goals, including adding 14′ x 14′ cedar decks to the left and right gable ends, a 14′ open web floor system to accommodate a loft area, and a stunning 36′ gable-style covered entryway with scissor trusses. We also added sliding barn doors on the gable ends and interior barn doors from Rustica to complete their vision for a barn-style venue.
