Gate Creek Garage Home

Vida, OR3,162 Sq. Ft.

Project Summary:

Based on our Oakridge 36’ Apartment Barn Kit, this impressive garage home features numerous custom upgrades tailored to the needs of our clients. The main level serves as a fully built-out workshop space, with two partially enclosed shed roofs creating ample room for a two-car garage area and mudroom. A stairwell on the first floor leads to the second-story living quarters, where our clients can enjoy a wide-open living space complete with a double-sided fireplace, a modern kitchen with an island and pantry, and an adjacent 299 sq. ft. covered deck. Doors on either side of the living room open to two bedrooms with a shared bathroom, including a primary bedroom that boasts a walk-in closet.

Additional modifications to the original model include a 12’ x 12’ extension of the deck and the addition of a gable deck cover. The exterior features Hardie Panel board and batten siding with a wood grain finish mimicking the appearance of wood. In place of our standard sliding patio door, our clients opted for an Andersen 400 Series French door in their living space.

Custom Features:

This garage with living quarters in Vida, Oregon, was adapted from our Oakridge Apartment Barn Kit to accommodate a heavy-duty workshop on the first floor and a stunning two-bedroom home on the second story. To achieve this vision, we added two partially enclosed shed roofs to the main level — one serving as a 576 sq. ft. garage and the other as a 288 sq. ft. workshop space. Our designers also added two 3.0 x 6.8 raised panel exterior grade doors to the first floor and raised the structure by a foot. Upstairs, we extended the size of our standard deck by 144 sq. ft. and added a gable deck cover to its design. Our clients upgraded to Andersen 400 Series windows and a 5.0 x 6.8 Andersen 400 Series double swing French door. To enhance the natural lighting inside the home, we added a cupola with windows above the main living space. Other custom details include select grade Douglas fir tongue and groove ceiling material in the main living space and stairwell, along with Hardie Panel board and batten siding for the exterior.
