Project Summary:
Adapted from our Powell 60′ Monitor Barn Kit, this post and beam workshop in Granite Bay, California, features a classic barn design that perfectly suits the idyllic region. Our team created the design and materials package for this building while the DC Builders crew completed the framing and siding. Cedar board and batten siding and tongue and groove siding line the exterior walls, giving this barn its distinct rustic appearance. Our clients also opted for upgraded haylofts and breezeway doors with glass tops and stylish crossbucks that add a unique touch to the exterior.
Inside this barn, you’ll find a 2,339 sq. ft. workshop on the main level and a 640 sq. ft. loft upstairs. Our clients can utilize the space for various purposes, including storage, hobbies, entertainment, and anything else they see fit. Clerestory windows above the center aisle loft and windows on either side of the rear hayloft door provide optimal natural light for the interior. With its flexible floor plan and adorable design, this monitor barn offers everything our clients could want and need in a heavy timber workshop.

Custom Features:
This post and beam workshop is, in many ways, similar to our standard Powell Monitor Barn Kit, save for a few custom details that make it stand out, including custom hayloft and breezeway doors with glass inserts and classic barn-style crossbucks. Our designers removed the vented cupola from this design and added windows on either side of the rear hayloft door to brighten the interior space. We also added exterior-grade doors to the front and side of the structure and a stunning king post truss above the entrance.
