Project Summary:
This post and beam barn and garage in Hood River, Oregon, was tastefully modified from our Columbia 60’ Gable Barn Kit to house our client’s horses and outdoor equipment. The main level splits into two separate rooms — a 2,019 sq. ft. storage area with three large garage doors and a three-stall horse barn with a 152 sq. ft. tack room. Upstairs, clients can take advantage of a 677 sq. ft. loft for hay storage and a 103 sq. ft. office area. One of two 12’ x 60’ shed roofs doubles as a covered patio and storage area, while the other acts as a covered turnout for our client’s horses. Other notable features in this design include Hardie Panel board and batten siding and an increased snow load capacity for added protection.

This barn-style structure features several unique design elements in and outside the building, including Hardie Panel board and batten siding, sliding barn doors and Dutch doors with decorative cross bucks, and a reddish bellyband and window trim that gives the exterior a pop of color. Our designers added a 12′ x 60′ shed roof to the left side of the structure to accommodate additional storage and increased the snow load capacity of the building to handle up to 100 lbs of snow at any given time. Additionally, our client opted for Classic Equine Spartan Series stall fronts in their horse barn and select grade Douglas fir tongue and groove wall and ceiling coverings throughout the interior.
