This Powell 60′ monitor barn kit in Reno, Nevada received numerous structural modifications in order to create a unique, three-story barn-style home with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The width of the building was increased from 36′ to 44′, the sidewalls were raised from 12′ 6″ to 15′, the roof pitches were heightened from 7/12 to 8/12 and 10/12, and four gable dormers were added to greatly increase the amount of livable space in the building.

The living area on the main level features a massive vaulted ceiling that peaks more than 36′ above the ground! A structural post was engineered out of this area to create a more open space. The living room is adjacent to a dining area and kitchen with a large island and walk-in pantry, a study, and a laundry room with a full bathroom. Through the laundry room is a large garage and workshop area with three garage bays. There’s also an office with a separate exterior entry.

Upstairs, a large entertainment area with a wet bar and library wraps around the open living space below. There’s also a hobby room, two large bedrooms, a full bathroom, and the expansive master suite with a five-piece bathroom, a walk-in closet, and access to a private 6′ x 16′ deck. In the hallway, a ship’s ladder leads to a small third-story loft with scenic views from an arched casement window. This project is currently under construction.
