Oregon Wine Country Barn Home

Oregon Wine Country Barn Home
Newberg, OR5,679 Sq. Ft.

Project Summary:

This unique Oakridge 60′ garage with living quarters sits on a scenic hillside in the heart of Oregon’s wine country. The structural frame is complete, with our client planning to finish the interior later on.

This client started with our 36′ x 60′ Oakridge model and added two fully enclosed shed roofs to create a 60′ x 60′ footprint. The main level features a 3,216 sq. ft. shop with two 12′ x 10′ garage doors to facilitate a drive-through garage bay for convenient vehicle storage. Our team engineered this building kit to enable the removal of a row of four posts inside the garage, creating a 24′ span for ease of movement. You’ll also find a powder room and stairs to the upper level, along with a shaft where an elevator will go in the future.

When complete, the 2,181 sq. ft. living space will include an open-concept living and dining area, with a large open kitchen featuring a double oven and an island with a sink. The dining area will open to a 561 sq. ft. deck partially covered by a timber-framed porch. The living areas will also include a primary bedroom with a gas fireplace, a four-piece en suite bathroom with two walk-in closets, two additional bedrooms with a shared Jack and Jill bathroom, a powder room, and a large laundry room.

Custom Features:

Based on our Oakridge 60′ Apartment Barn Kit, this barn-style home in Oregon’s famed wine country features several unique design details that deviate from our standard model. This home’s location on a sloped property influenced a lot of the design, though our client’s vision for the structure played an equally important role. Our designers added two fully enclosed shed roofs to the building — one of which anchors the home to the hillside while the other offers additional room for the downstairs workshop. We also added a custom L-shaped deck that stretches across the entry and rear and offers gorgeous valley views. Our team applied an engineering upgrade in the garage area that removes a row of posts for greater mobility. We also added a gable roof extension to the upper deck, with the cover boasting a custom heavy timber truss and select grade tongue and groove ceiling material.
