North Carolina Horse Barn W/ Living Quarters

Arden, NC5,143 Sq. Ft.

Project Summary:

This horse barn with living quarters is one of three stunning residential structures we designed for our client in Arden, North Carolina. Inspired by our Oakridge 60′ Apartment Barn Kit, this post and beam structure features a 2,419 sq. ft. horse barn on the first floor and a comfortable three-bedroom, two-bathroom home upstairs.

The main-level barn boasts eight stalls outfitted with Classic Equine Legend Series stall fronts and Dutch windows for enhanced ventilation and socialization. For added functionality, our client opted for a 12′ x 12′ tack room, a 12′ x 12′ wash bay, and a 12′ x 24′ feed room in their barn interior. They also added our pine tongue and groove ceiling upgrade under the loft area, creating a visually intriguing element inside the space that gives it that traditionally rustic, all-wood appearance.

One floor up, an open-concept kitchen, living, and dining area offers a warm and homey environment for our client to retreat to after a long day. Again, our heavy timber roof upgrade is on full display, with premium tongue and groove ceiling material creating a light and natural look that perfectly complements their green accents. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms, including a generous primary bedroom suite, round out the second-story living space. Additionally, our client can take advantage of a 155 sq. ft. covered deck right outside their living room.
