Project Summary:
Located in Sandy, Oregon, this custom lookout tower and treehouse is one of the most unique projects completed by the DC team. Designed and fabricated by us and constructed by our parent company, DC Builders, this heavy timber structure features a towering design that offers stunning views of Mt. Hood and the surrounding forest.
At over 56 feet high, this project takes inspiration from fire lookout towers across the state while maintaining a luxurious and modern appearance that’s anything but standard. Climbing a series of heavy timber stairs, you’ll reach an inviting third-level living space with a modern kitchenette, great room, bunk beds, and a wrap-around deck. From its elevated 40-foot perch, guests can enjoy pristine views inside the enclosed 577 sq. ft. room or outside on the spacious cedar deck.
With its combination of steel beams and bracing systems, oversized Douglas fir framing components, and timber frame joinery, this custom build provides an incredibly robust foundation for our client’s dream ADU. Adding a heavy timber roof upgrade to their design, our clients created a warm and cozy interior that complements their region and speaks to the beauty of Oregon’s unmatched timbers.
