Project Summary:
Located on the Rio Grande River in South Fork, Colorado, this incredible barn home is a highly personalized version of our Oakridge 72′ Apartment Barn Kit. With 3,371 square feet of conditioned living space, plus a 2,019 sq. ft. garage, this post and beam residence offers an all-encompassing layout perfect for our adventurous clients. The first floor splits into two separate sections — the left side consisting of a massive garage built for outdoor toy and vehicle storage and the right side serving as a foyer with a custom bar area, full bathroom, and spare bedroom. We carved out a single-vehicle garage on the far left side by adding a 12′ x 24′ enclosed shed roof. Breezeway doors in the front and back of the structure also provide access to the garage area, creating a single lane of transportation that makes it easy to move vehicles to and from the garage.
Upstairs, our clients can relax and unwind in their three-bedroom home, which features an open-concept living, dining, and kitchen area, an office, and a laundry room. A generous primary bedroom down the hall from the main living space includes a large walk-in closet and an en suite bathroom. Two additional bedrooms share a full bathroom with a water closet and built-in linen storage. There’s also a half bathroom outside the laundry room that guests can utilize. Stand-out features in this home include a 155 sq. ft. covered deck that our clients can access through elegant Andersen 400 Series French-style hinged patio doors in their living area. A custom timber truss above the deck adds to the coziness of this outdoor living space, creating a unique visual element that clients and their guests will love.

This barn-style home design is a testament to the versatility and beauty of our post and beam structures. Numerous custom details contribute to this home’s naturally stunning appearance, including the addition of a 155 sq. ft. deck with a custom timber truss and heavy timber deck cover, stained cedar board and batten siding, and a rustic-style red metal roof. Standard features like our Classic Equine breezeway doors and vented cupolas give this home a distinct Americana look. With their selected upgrades, including our heavy timber staircase, Andersen 400 Series French-style hinged patio doors, and knotty alder pre-hung exterior door, our clients could create an interior and exterior personalized to their taste. Our designers added a 12’ x 24’ shed roof on the far left side of the first floor to accommodate vehicle storage. We also added a high-altitude compliant window upgrade and removed five interior posts to create more open space inside the home.
