Teháma Main Horse Barn

Carmel, CA4,029 Sq. Ft.

Project Summary:

Adapted from our Powell Monitor Barn Kit, this gorgeous red barn in the residential community of Teháma Carmel features a quintessential Americana design that stuns in every aspect. Inside, you’ll find a charming six-stall horse barn with a 19′ breezeway aisle, a tack and feed room, and a half bathroom on the first floor. One floor up, a one-bedroom apartment with a living room, kitchen, and 191 sq. ft. cedar deck offers a home away from home that caretakers can use at their leisure.

Our team made several modifications to the original model, including increasing the width of the structure, adding a heavy timber loft, and upgrading our standard post and beam materials to 8″ x 8″ Douglas fir posts and 8″ x 12″ beams. Additionally, we designed this barn with multiple fire-safe building materials as part of our WUI high fire upgrade, including a fire-retardant pre-stain package, R-38 Hunter Panel roof insulation, and WUI-approved vents on all roof-level eaves.
