Michigan Timber Frame Home

Freeport, MI3,134 Sq. Ft.

Project Summary:

Located on a beautiful lakefront property in Freeport, Michigan, this modern timber frame home is the first Thielsen Timber Frame Home Kit ever completed. With 3,134 square feet of conditioned living space, plus a 1,167 sq. ft. three-car garage, a 1,190 sq. ft. basement, and a 598 sq. ft. outdoor living space, this custom home boasts an all-inclusive floor plan tailored to our client’s taste and lifestyle needs.

The main level opens to a T-shaped foyer that accesses a half-bathroom, a laundry room, a mud room leading into the garage, and a generous primary bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and two walk-in closets on the left-hand side. To the right of the entryway, you’ll find a cozy rustic living space complete with a modern kitchen, a small dining area, and a great room with a tall stone fireplace and built-in cabinetry. Large Pella Lifestyle Series windows fill the space with natural light, while massive king post trusses and heavy timber ceilings add to its distinct rustic charm. Additionally, patio doors at the rear lead to an outdoor living space with a stunning timber frame deck cover that overlooks this client’s LED-lit pool and the neighboring lake.

Upstairs, our clients can utilize two bedrooms with a jack-and-jill bathroom, a bonus room, and a loft area open to the living space below. Two floors down, an unconditioned basement with a garage door in the rear offers additional storage space for our client’s vehicles, outdoor toys, and equipment.
