Project Summary:
Nestled in the high-desert landscape of Mesa, Colorado, this modern prefab cabin kit reimagines our classic Sherwood design as a bright, spacious retreat with panoramic mountain views. Adapted from our popular Sherwood Cabin Kit, this stunning three-bedroom, three-bathroom home combines timeless craftsmanship with a distinctly modern edge.
Inside, the home features an open-concept living space that feels both grand and welcoming, framed by large, black-trimmed windows, vaulted tongue-and-groove ceilings, and heavy timber scissor trusses that add warmth and texture. Down the hall, a spacious primary suite offers covered porch access, a walk-in closet, and a rustic-inspired bathroom designed for comfort and style. The main level also includes a secondary bedroom with a full bath, a dedicated laundry area, and a two-car garage with removed columns for improved clearance and functionality.
Upstairs, a studio loft above the garage serves as a flexible “granny flat”—ideal for guests, family, or even as an attached rental unit. This self-contained suite includes a full kitchen, bathroom, and cozy living area, offering all the comforts of home in a private, independent space.

Custom Features:
Though this cabin closely mirrors our Sherwood Cabin Kit with its signature L-shaped design and first-floor layout, several thoughtful modifications make it uniquely theirs. Working with our in-house designers, these clients expanded the footprint of their living room, primary suite, hallway, and garage to accommodate their lifestyle and hobbies.
For instance, a studio loft above the garage was added as a comfortable mother-in-law suite, while a shed roof extension outside the garage provides extra covered parking. To elevate the home’s aesthetic, we incorporated a range of wood upgrades — from heavy timber scissor trusses in the great room to a timber porch roof and decorative rafters in the primary suite. The addition of Pella Lifestyle and Impervia windows and exterior dormers enhances both energy efficiency and visual appeal, giving this home a classic Colorado cabin look with a modern twist.
