Idaho Hillside Barn Home

Preston, ID2,160 Sq. Ft.

Project Summary:

Situated on a scenic hillside in Preston, Idaho, this rustic barn home is designed to maximize property views from every level. Based on our Sunnyside Event Barn Kit, this post and beam home offers 2,160 sq. ft. of conditioned living space plus a 2,041 sq. ft. daylight basement and a 720 sq. ft. deck. The main level includes an open-concept living, dining, and kitchen area with a massive double-sided fireplace, in addition to three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Our clients can step out onto a two-story covered deck that overlooks the surrounding region from a pair of sliding patio doors in the living room.

Downstairs, the basement area serves as a recreation room of sorts, with ample room for storage, a hobby workshop, and a comfy seating area. Similar to the upstairs deck, our clients are able to access their backyard via sliding glass doors in the basement. A heavy timber staircase connects the basement level patio to the upstairs deck. Additional features include the addition of a cupola with windows, a covered entryway, heavy timber trusses on either gable end, and a massive window wall adjacent to the deck.

Custom Features:

This post and beam home was tastefully modified from our Sunnyside Event Barn Kit to serve as a hillside residence with stunning property views. Our in-house design team designed the home around our clients’ sloped property, creating a secondary basement level with a walkout patio that takes full advantage of the site’s uniqueness. A 720 sq. ft. deck on the main level is also highly custom, with a double-sided fireplace and two-story heavy timber covering making it the perfect setting for entertaining year-round.
