North Carolina Timber Frame Home

North Carolina Timber Frame Home
Terrell, NC5,080 Sq. Ft.

Project Summary:

This timber frame residence planned for development in North Carolina is the epitome of man cave goals. With the help of our designers, our client was able to transform our Thielsen Timber Frame Home Kit into a three-level estate optimized for entertainment. Similar to our Montana Timber Frame Home project, this residence features an open-concept living, kitchen, and dining area to the right of the entryway on the first floor. Our clients can access a 628 sq. ft. covered deck via a pair of sliding glass doors in the great room. There’s also a walk-in pantry in the kitchen and a coat closet inside the main living space. Down the hall, you’ll find a generous primary bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, walk-in closet, and private patio with a pergola cover. Clients can also take advantage of a laundry room and half bathroom in the foyer and a mudroom that connects with a three-car garage to the right of the entrance.

Double stairs in the foyer lead to a lower-level basement and an upstairs loft. The daylight basement opens to a room with a golf simulator that adjoins a game room with a whiskey bar and a walk-out patio. Inside this exciting man cave, there’s also a workshop area, a gun room, a bedroom with a walk-in closet, a full bathroom, and a mechanical room. Two floors up, a loft with two bedrooms, a shared bathroom, and a large bonus room serves as a guest suite and an additional entertainment space. From their loft, our clients can overlook their great room, where king post timber trusses and tongue and groove ceilings add warmth and visual appeal.

We made several modifications to this project to satisfy our client’s vision for the structure. For example, we extended the original size of the garage to include a third garage bay and added a daylight basement to create room for a fully-equipped man cave on the lower level. We also added a 628 sq. ft. deck with a shed roof cover to the rear of the structure and a 116 sq. ft. patio with a pergola cover off the primary bedroom. Once finished, this timber frame home will feature WoodTone Rustic Series board and batten siding for the exterior and Trex Enhance® Naturals Composite Decking as the surface material for their covered deck.
